Paul Eugene Chandler Sr.

Paul Eugene Chandler Sr., Harrington, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023, at the Bayhealth-Sussex Hospital, he was 88.

Paul served his country proudly in the United States Army and served during the Korean Conflict.

He worked as an electrical lineman foreman/supervisor for Delmarva Power for many years, and worked for over 40 years as a lead electrician for the Delaware State Fair and Harrington Raceway.  Paul was a hard worker, and one that everybody looked up to and respected. 

He loved the outdoors, especially activities on the water like surf fishing, clamming, and crabbing with his family. His favorite trip was to the Outer Banks to fish with his brother, Sonny.  Paul was really into fitness and working out.  If he wasn't lifting weights, he was running laps on the horse track at the Fairgrounds.  He even won a body building competition for his weight class in his younger years.  Working on his old truck and his 56 Chevy with friends was also a favorite activity of his.

Mr. Chandler always put his family first and was a devoted family man.  He loved to spoil and spend quality time with his children and grandchildren.  He had a joyous spirit and always saw the good in people.  He loved the Lord and will forever be missed.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Josephine R. Chandler, his son, Paul E. Chandler Jr., and all of his siblings; Walter Chandler, Raymond "Sonny" Chandler, May Chandler, and Diane Nailor.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Chandler; his children, Debra C. Wyatt (Rodney), Robert Chandler, Susan Chandler;  step-son, Donald L. Porter Jr.; grandchildren, Julie Wyatt, Rodney K. Wyatt, Paul E. Chandler III, Michael Chandler, Amber Chandler; step-grandsons, Tim Porter, Tyler Porter, Nathan Porter; seven (7) great grand children and a great-great grandson, Paul E. Chandler 5th.

A Funeral Service for Mr. Chandler, will be on Friday, October 6, 2023, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at 12 PM.  A public visitation will be held one hour prior starting at 11 AM.  Interment will be at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
