Janice O'Beirne Obituary

Janice E. O'Beirne, of Felton, passed away surrounded by her loving husband and family, on Saturday, September 1, 2018, at her daughter's home. she was 83.  Janice was born in Philadelphia to the late George Washington and Dorothy E. Heist.

Janice worked as a registered nurse.  After working in Philadelphia for many years, she worked in the ICU at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, when she moved to Delaware and eventually retired.

Janice lived life to the fullest, and had many hobbies.  She loved to read books, collect seashells, and loved gardening.  She loved to watch her butterflies and loved to knit, especially blankets.  She enjoyed fishing with her family on the pier, and loved to visit the beach, whether to read one of her favorite books on the sand, or just walking the boardwalk.  She loved animals, and enjoyed listening to music, especially her favorite, The Beatles.

Janice had a Heart of Gold.  She was the sweetest lady in the world you would ever meet.  She loved to feed anybody, if you walked into her home, you got fed, whether you were hungry or not.  She would help anybody in need, she did not have to know you in order to help you, if she saw a need, she would fill it.  She truly and literally would give you the shirt off of her own back and give out her last dollar if you needed it.  She will be truly missed.

She is being received into Heaven, into the loving arms of our Lord Jesus, by her parents, Dorothy and George Washington Heist, son-in-law, Edward Haines, and grand-daughter, Jennifer Ann O'Beirne.

She is survived by her loving husband of 64 years, Donald O'Beirne Sr.; her children and their spouses, Donald W. (Patti)  O'Beirne Jr., David O'Beirne, Richard (Eva) O'Beirne, Stephen (Rita) O'Beirne, Pamela Haines, Janice (John) Freebairn; sisters, Norma Matase, Kay Hunkle, Diana Olive, Sue Graham; daughter in law, Evelyn O'Beirne; sister in law, Betty Russell; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
