Gary P. Simpson, Harrington, passed away peacefully in his home, on Thursday, October 14, 2021, he was 52. Gary was born in Milford, DE to Gary E. and Elma Jean Simpson.
Gary was the owner and operator of Gary Simpson Contracting for the past 18 years. He was a successful businessman because he knew the value of hard work and always went the extra mile for anyone he did work for. When Gary was not hard at work, he was hard at play. He enjoyed dirt track racing, where he drove and owned several cars and sponsored drivers. He especially enjoyed horse racing with his father, "Big Gary", and together as owner and trainer, they spent over 15 years on the track, and were members of the USTA (United States Trotting Assoc.)
Gary was an amazing father, who was always involved with his children's activities. He coached Little League softball, was involved with Kerrigan's travel ball team, and loved watching her play college ball. Gary also loved boating on the Choptank with his best friend Shane Shulties, and enjoyed being part of Calvary Wesleyan Church in Harrington.
To put on paper what Gary meant to his family and friends would fill volumes. He will be remembered as a wonderful person, who was generous and giving to others, with a contagious smile that lit up a room. He will be sadly missed by all who had the privilege to know him.
Gary is preceded in death by grandparents; Paul Simpson, Russell and Bertha Marie Stafford.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Amy Simpson; daughter, Kerrigan Simpson; sons, Randy Elben, Michael Elben; grandchildren, Zoey Elben, Jaxson Elben, Owen Elben; sister, Paula (Kevin, Shelbie, Brea and Carson) Bishop; grandmother, Beulah Mae Simpson; father and mother in-law, Buddy & Mary Catherine Dyott, brother-in-law Buddy (Sara, Kelsi & Dawson) Dyott; sister-in law Hollie (Megan and Sharlee) Dyott and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and too many friends to mention.
