Charles Smith, Jr. Obituary

Charles R. Smith, Jr of Greenwood, DE, met his heavenly Father on Feb. 11, 2021 after a battle with kidney disease.  He was 76.  Charlie was the son of the late Dorothy and Charles Smith, Sr.

Charlie was a natural athlete.  He was a 1963 graduate of Northeastern High School where he was number one in track and field. A Sergeant in the United State Air Force, Charlie served in the Vietnam.

Charlie loved the being outdoors whether it was fishing, hunting, crabbing or being on the beach.   

In addition to his parents, Charlie is preceded in death by his sisters, Laura Blair and Geri Smith; step son, Wayne Smith, and step daughter Teresa Smith.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Patricia Smith; daughters, Melissa Ellis (Michael) and Janeen Conway (Shawn); stepson Kenny Smith; 10 grandchildren, Cortney Ellis, Michael Ellis, Felicity and Asher Shober, Michael and Nicolas Kurchoyck, Kenny and Nicole Smith, and Amber and Adam Smith; and several great grandchildren; brother, John Smith; sisters, Irene Waltonmeyer, Cheryl Weaver, Dorothy Smith, Linda McKinney; and many nieces and nephews.

  Funeral Services for Charlie will be private. A celebration of Life service will be scheduled at a later time for family and friends.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington, DE.
