Atwood “Woody” Badman, Felton, passed away on July 25, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, he was 92.  He was the son of the late, Garland and Susan Badman.

Woody graduated from Shamokin High School in 1947.  In 1952, he enlisted in the US Army and served during the Korean War.  After his discharge in 1954, he furthered his education and received his Masters Degree in Education from Penn State University.  Woody worked for 37 years in the education field, starting his career as a science teacher then becoming a principal at Smyrna Junior High School in 1969.  He later worked for the State of Delaware in the Department of Public Instruction and finally from the State of Delaware Natural Resources from which he retired in 1986.

Woody took pride in the fact that he was a Master Mason, and served over 66 years as a Freemason.  He was a former member of a Lodge in Pennsylvania before he became a member of the Solomon Lodge #36 in July of 1967, and was recently recognized for having been a freemason for 65 years.

Woody can be described as a happy man, always whistling and singing.  You always knew he was around because you could always guarantee he would be singing or whistling.  He loved his time at the Frederica Senior Center where he spent time with friends and enjoying lunch.  Woody also enjoyed bingo at the Frederica Fire House and going to the casino.  He truly loved to socialize.

Woody’s family would like to thank his many friends at the Frederica Senior Center, Frederica Firehall and his neighbors who always helped to watch over him.
