Wilson W. Wamsley, of Harrington, DE , passed away on Monday, March 5, 2012, at the Milford Hospice Center, he was 91.
Mr. Wamsley served his country proudly in the United States Army. He worked as a Frigidaire technician for Penn Dairy. He also worked in maintenance for the Lake Forest School District for over 18 years.
His favorite pastimes included camping, hunting, wood working, gardening, and working on refrigerators. In his younger days he played baseball, and was on one of the first teams in this area. He met his wife while working outside of Goldsboro through the Civilian Conservation Corps, created by President Franklin D. Roosevelt, in 1933, to create jobs for American men that could not find work during the depression.
Mr. Wamsley belonged to the Independent Bible Fellowship Church of Harrington, Harrington Moose Lodge, Harrington Senior Center, and the American Legion Post #7.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lula Ann and George Stewart Wamsley; siblings, Robert Elliot, Ida Michaels, Kathryn Wamsley, Vestus Wamsley, Clifford Wamsley, Charles Wamsley, Warner Wamsley, Fredia Anthony, Clarence Wamsley, and Ethel Conoway.
He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Mildred Wamsley; son and daughter in law, Mikell E. and Linda Wamsley of Harrington; 2 grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa and Philip Collison and Laura and Kevin Hunt; and 3 great grandchildren, Kaylee Collison, Maycee Collison, Madison Hunt.
Service will be Sunday, March 11, 2012, at 2 PM, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
