DOVER - William P. Diefenbach of Dover passed away on Monday, Oct. 14, 2013 at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. He was 83. He was born to the late Emil E. and Nina M. Diefenbach.
Mr. Diefenbach served his country proudly in the U.S. Army Air Corp for four years, as a MP and a cook, and then transferred to the U. S. Air Force, where he retired after 21 years, as a supply Sergeant. Mr. Diefenbach also worked at Reichold Chemical for many years.
In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and hunting, and was an avid model railroader. He enjoyed playing games and downloading music on his computer. He loved to watch NASCAR races and at one time, drove for Joie Chitwood Jr.
Mr. Diefenbach will be remembered as easy going and friendly and always there for you when you needed him. His family will cherish his memory as a loving husband and father who will be sadly missed.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Emil Diefenbach.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Della Diefenbach of Dover; daughters and sons in laws, Della M. (Frank) Bachmann of Dover, Dolores K. (Bruce) Stegner of Dover, Debra L. (Ronald) Wilson of Dover, Mary C. Dean of Dover; two grandchildren, William C. Wilson and Della M. Dean
Services will be 12 p.m., Monday, October 21, 2013 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013 Interment will be at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
