Walter H. Perdue

Walter H. Perdue of Harrington Delaware, passed away on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, in his home surrounded by the family he loved dearly, he was 79.  Walter was born in Salisbury, Maryland to the late Howard J. and Louise M. Perdue.

Walter graduated from Harrington High School in 1965, then served his country proudly in the United States Navy.  Once returned to Harrington, Walter worked as a lineman and crew chief with Delaware Electric Cooperative for over 30 years.  He was a dedicated and hard worker who formed many bonds and friendships through the years.

When not at work, Walter enjoyed the outdoors.  His passion was hunting. He loved going on hunting trips with his friends, whether to Maryland, Georgia, Tennessee, Montana, and even to Canada.  If he wasn't hunting, he could be found fishing, or watching out for Purple Martins in the back yard.  In his younger days, Walter could be seen playing baseball or softball on various local Men's leagues with his friends. He also played ball on a Navy All Star team while serving his country. Walter was a hard working, determined individual, who was passionate about his fellow military members and community, and making sure to always put his family first. He was loving, kind, and had a profound love for the wilderness.  He will be truly missed.

Walter was a lifetime member of the Harrington Moose Lodge. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion CKRT Post #7 where he was a past commander, served on the honor guard, and various other positions.

He is survived by his loving wife, Holly Perdue; daughter, Jessica (Larry Jr.) Keller; son, Jason (Amanda) Perdue; sister, Charlotte Arden; grandchildren, Neil Keller, Kristin Keller, Nathaniel Keller, Penn Perdue, Crew Perdue.

A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, February 26th, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at 12 Noon.  A visitation will be held starting at 11 AM.
