W. Dwight Stephens, Felton, passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024 at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital with his family at his side. He was 91. Mr. Stephens was son of the late, Wilbur and Ethel Stephens.
Mr. Stephens proudly served in the U.S. Air Force. After his time in the military, he became a telephone lineman and repairman. After retirement, he enjoyed “puttering” in his shop and working on projects. Mr. Stephens was a member of the Felton-Viola UM Church and Masonic Union Lodge #7, Dover.
Mr. Stephens enjoyed square dancing and camping with his wife, Lenora, and often traveled with a group of friends to square dancing events and camping at local campgrounds. Cherrystone was a favorite camping destination. Gardening was a favorite hobby, and he often could be seen strolling through town, checking in at the post office and bank, and seeing the current gas prices at ROFO. He was active in the Felton Little League, when his son Doug was involved, and continued to help out when his grandchildren were playing. He would help anyone in need and always lent a helping hand with church projects. His friendly and caring nature will be sadly missed.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his grandson, Joshua Mast and great-grandson Ryder Yencer.
Mr. Stephens is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Lenora Stephens; son, Douglas Stephens (Michelle); daughters, Karen Mast (Michael) and Cynthia Stephens; grandchildren, Aaron Mast, Autumn Yencer, and Tyler Voshell; great-grandchildren, Anthony J. Mast, Audrey J. Mast, and Daxton Yencer; siblings, Francis Trusal, William Stephens, and Dennis Stephens; and extended family.
