Virginia L. Hughes

HARRINGTON — Virginia Hughes passed away March 16, 2018, at Bayhealth – Kent General.  She was the daughter of the late Charles and Bessie Hawkins.

Virginia was a hard working woman who loved her job transporting Railroad workers for 13 years.  She was a member of the Harrington Moose lodge since 1981.

When she wasn’t working, Virginia loved to watch her afternoon “stories” and relax on the front porch. Virginia was a quiet, easy going lady with a good heart who will be missed.

In addition to her parents, Virginia is preceded in death by her brother, Ronnie Hawkins; sisters, Sharon Rash, Barbara Silbereisen, and Geraldine Taylor.

Virginia is survived by her husband, Charlie Hughes Sr.; daughter, Kelly Oksuz; sons, Henry “JR”  Smith, Charles Hughes Jr; several grandchildren to include, Kelsey, Kayla, Karissa and Justin Williams, Joseph and Cody Smith; brother, Roy Hawkins; sisters, Helen Gallo, Joyce Hughes, Gloria Slyvester, and Josephine Hayman; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately at the family’s discretion.
