Viola 'Jean' Logan, 65
HOUSTON — After a long courageous struggle, Viola "Jean" Logan lost her battle to cancer at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford with her family by her side on Saturday, July 28, 2012.
Mrs. Logan worked for the State of Delaware retiring as a Traffic Engineer. In her spare time, "Jean" as she was affectionately known, loved to crochet, read books constantly, and watched cartoons to relax and let life's many problems slip away for a while.
She was a very giving person, always thinking of others before herself. Sweet and compassionate, she often did without to help those who needed help all her life. Like any mother or grandmother her children and especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the enjoyment of her life. She would often spoil them as only a grandmother can.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William; and her parents, Allen Breeding and Grace Rash.
She is survived by her daughters, Cheryl and Jay Showard of Greenwood, Carolyn Deputy and Horace Stalvey of Houston; her sons, Dan and Lisa Donovan of Felton and Frank Watkins of Ellendale, whom she thought of as a son; grandchildren, Ryan Watkins, Danielle Donovan, Dustin Edge, Dennis Edge, Chase Watkins and Madison Stalvey; great-grandchildren, Mason Watkins, Olivia Watkins, and Haylee Fetzer; brother, Allen Breeding Jr. of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sisters, Sharon and Ray Melvin of Harrington; Ruby and Butch Farmer of Harrington, Susan and Bryan Hitchens of Dover.
Services will be held 1 p.m., Thursday, August 2, 2012, at the Melvin Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 1, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. Interment will be in the Hollywood Cemetery.
