Tonya V Coleman

Tonya V. Coleman, 55 of Harrington passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2022. Tonya was the daughter of the late Diana Pierson and Thomas Coleman.

Tonya was passionate about gymnastics, having participated from an early age, and then as a teacher, teaching up to level 6 gymnastics. She was very artistic and enjoyed diamond paint art, flower arranging, colored pencil drawings and dot drawing (rapidograph). Her artistry extended to her beautiful flower gardens, and in decorating for the holidays, particularly Halloween and Christmas.  She was even known to don a costume and walk around with her kids while they went trick-or-treating. To her kids’ friends, she was known as “Mama C” who accepted everyone, always trusting to see the good in people, and willing to help anyone that she could. She treasured her kids and grandkids dearly, and would brag on them every chance that she could.  Tonya was a hard worker and care taker by nature. She was crazy about her dogs, and often took care of any other animal she came across that was injured and in need of help. In her spare time, she also enjoyed puzzles and watching the “Big Bang Theory”.

In addition to her parents, Tonya is preceded in death by her sister, Kimberly Hilderbrand.

She is survived by her husband of 28 years, Robert M. Coleman; her children, George William Ottinger, Robert James Coleman, Lindsey Coleman Trumbauer (Ryan), and Alyssa D Coleman; grandchildren Rilyn and Raegan; and her siblings, Larry Hilderbrand, Brian Hilderbrand, Regina Hilderbrand, Vonda Harrison, and Jesse Hilderbrand.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Tonya will take place on Tuesday, January 11, 2022 at Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington at 1:00PM.  A visitation will take place one hour prior starting at 12 Noon.  Interment will take place immediately after at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
