HARRINGTON - Thelma "Mom-mom" Betts formerly of Harrington went home to be with the Lord, September 10, 2015 from Milford Center. She was 88. She was born in Harrington to the late Samuel and Ethel Short Jr.
Mom-mom Betts was a home maker who loved children and enjoyed running a day care for 35 years in her home. Mom-mom Betts was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who loved the Lord passionately. She attended Asbury United Methodist Church in Harrington where she had 50 years of perfect attendance.She served her church faithfully on the Memorial Committee, Pastoral Committee as well as taught Sunday School for 35 years.
Mom-mom Betts was a fun loving woman who enjoyed word searches, playing games and growing flowers. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, Mom-mom was preceded in death by her husband, Layton R. Betts; and her son, Russell L. Betts.
Mom-mom Betts will be missed by her son, Roger A. Betts (Barbara) of Bear; daughter, Carol Betts of Harrington; grandchildren, Jason Betts (Nina), Kevin Betts (Christi) and Matthew Betts (Elizabeth); great grandchildren, Savannah, Emma and soon to arrive Josephine Betts, and 2 sisters, Betty Zimmerman and Lillian Callaway.
Services will be 12 p.m., Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Ave., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior. Interment will be held at Hollywood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to Asbury United Methodist Church, 200 Weiner Ave., Harrington, DE 19952.
