FREDERICA — Shirley May Hurd, of Frederica, passed away on Friday, Feb. 24, 2012, at Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. She was 65.
Mrs. Hurd was a homemaker. She took great pride in her family and was always there for her daughter and granddaughters whenever she was needed. She was an avid NASCAR fan and Dale Jr. was her favorite driver. She loved her soap operas and playing computer games. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ethel Griffith; and husband, Clarence A. "Bud" Hurd.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa A. Irwin of Felton; brother, Joseph Griffith of Felton; sister, Thelma Moore of Milford; granddaughters, Emily Melissa Towson, and Shelby Hurd; and three great-grandchildren.
Services be 1 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, where a visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Sharon Hills Memorial Park.
