Sarah Virginia Sullivan Wilson Smith

HARRINGTON - Sarah Virginia Sullivan Wilson Smith passed away Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2013 at Silver Lake Center, Dover. She was born in Vernon, Del., daughter of the late Harry and Clara Sullivan.
Mrs. Smith was a 1934 graduate of Harrington High School. During the 40's, she was employed with the DuPont Company in Seaford. She later worked at the Ace Manufacturing Co. in Harrington and General Foods Corporation in Dover. When her husband, Ernest M. Smith was alive, she enjoyed spending time at their summer home in Lewes Beach.
Mrs. Smith was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church, Prospect United Methodist Women, Harrington Senior Center, Harrington High School Alumni Association, Harrington Historical Society, and the Andrewsville Historical Society.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest in 1982; her daughter, Lelia Anne Wilson Matthews in 1996; brother, Harry Milton Sullivan in 2008; her brother's wife, Gladys in 2009; and her step-great-grandson, Michael Miller in 2008.
Survivors include granddaughter, Jo Anne Matthews; great-granddaughter, Jennifer Stubbs; great-great-grandson, Byron Morgan; nephew, Wayne Sullivan; stepdaughters, Jean Smith Miller, all of Harrington and Janet Smith Taulane, of Rehoboth Beach; six step-grandchildren, 15 great step-grandchildren, 12 great-great step-grandchildren, and a host of friends.
Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to the Prospect United Methodist Church, PO Box 342, Harrington, DE 19952; or to the Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming Street, Harrington, DE 19952.
