Samuel P. Ansbach Sr. of Harrington, Del.

Samuel P. Ansbach, Sr., 84, of Harrington, Del., left this earth and followed his Lord to Heaven on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.

He was born in Pittsburgh to the late Samuel E. and Isabel Marie Ansbach.

Sam was a member of Demola of Young Shriners until 1945, when he joined and proudly served in the U.S. Army serving mostly at Ft. Hood, Texas.

In 1947, he attended Penn State University for the next 3 years.

In 1958, he became a member of the Reformed Presbyterian Church where he was saved June 9, 1962. He even did a little preaching at nursing homes. In December of 1970, Sam joined the Gideons International of West Chester. In 1975, he and his wife Betty moved to Delaware and became members of Faith Community Church in Camden.

Sam served on the State Cabinet for Gideons Kent South from 1978 to 1981 and vice president from 1981 to 1984 and continued to serve in other positions through the years.

Sam worked as a job estimator for D.E. Resinger Inc. for 13 years and Roberts Construction Co. of Frederica for 29 years, retiring in 2004.

He was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Betty C. Ansbach.

Survivors include his sons, Samuel P. Ansbach Jr. of Downingtown, Harry W. Ansbach and his wife Donna of Felton; daughters, Verna Kay Seace and her husband Ray of Downingtown, Maxine M. Ansbach of Spring City, Carla May-Giralt and her husband Olivier of St. Marcell, Paulel, France; sister, Sara Lou Richardson of Bethel Park; 13 grandchildren six great-grandchildren; and his wife, Winona Ansbach of Harrington.

His funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, November 19, at Faith Community Church, Route 13, Camden with visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment is at 2 p.m. Monday, November 21, at the Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Bear, Del.
