Roger Wayne Collison Sr., 66
Wayne Collison departed this dear Earth for his Heavenly Home on Monday, May 21, at the Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, from complication of his heart transplant surgery, he was 66.
Wayne was a graduate of the Harrington High School class of 1964. He served for a brief time with the National Guard, before returning to the family farm. Since a young age, Wayne had a love for farming and raising dairy cows. He remained a farmer throughout his entire life, although he gave up the dairy aspect in 1998. In 2003, Wayne started Beracah Homes, a modular home building facility in Greenwood, DE. In just a few short years, the business became a premier builder of homes in the tri-state area.
Wayne loved his cows and loved to work, but above all, he loved his family. They were very close knit and he looked forward to trips, outings, and dinners with his family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy and he cherished them the most. Not only did he love his family, but he was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord. He loved to ride around his farm surveying the fields and cattle and communing with the Earth and reflecting on God’s Word and His creations. Wayne was very active in his community and served on various boards and committees. He was presently on the Board at Calvary Wesleyan Church, and he was a past board member of the Polytech School, and JCPenny National Bank, just to name a few. He was also past president of the DHIA - Dairy Herd Improvement Association.
Wayne will be remembered as a truly generous person who oftentimes gave to a fault. His charisma and smile made it easy for him to make friends everywhere he went, and everyone truly loved him. He was a tender hearted and honest man who was a true leader, and one that many looked up to. He will be truly missed by his family, church family, and countless friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, William R. “Billy Ray” Collison; and a sister, Janet Hayman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Brenda Collison of Harrington; son and daughter in law, Roger Wayne and Angela Collison Jr. of Harrington; daughter, Beth and Steve Scott of Harrington; brother, Ronnie Collison of Harrington; and 7 grandchildren.
Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday, May 26, 2012, at 1PM, at the Calvary Wesleyan Church, Harrington, with a visitation two hours prior to the service. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
