Rocco Mondazze, age 86 of Harrington, passed away on Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Bayhealth-Kent General hospital. He was born in Hartford, Connecticut to the late, Rocco and Olive Mondazze Sr.
Mr. Mondazze served his country proudly in the US Army during WWII. He served in Europe and Germany in the infantry and was part of the heavy weapons unit. He retired in 1988 as a quality control inspector for Sealectro Electronics.
In his spare time, he enjoyed wood carving and making duck decoys. He loved to work with oil paints, fish, and play billiards. He will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Lucy Mondazze; a son, Michael G. Mondazze of Philomath, Oregon; daughter, Marlene M. Perez of Griffin, GA; niece, Shirley Widel of Hartford, CT; 3 grandsons; and 4 great grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be Monday, January 7, 2013, at 11 AM, at the St. Bernadette Church, Harrington.
There will be a reception immediately following the service at the church fellowship hall.
Visitation will take place Sunday evening from 6 to 8 pm, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Interment will be at a later date in Mount Saint Benedict Cemetery. Bloomfield, CT.
