FELTON — Robert D. Garrett passed away Sun., Feb. 10, 2013 at Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital.
Mr. Garrett worked as a credit collection agent. He had a love for baseball and was a diehard Red Sox fan. He was a big part of the Felton Little League serving both on the board of directors and as a coach. He also loved to play poker and watch movies, he was a Harry Potter enthusiast. His pups, Dixie and Dolly were his constant companions and he loved them dearly.
Mr. Garrett will be remembered as a very intelligent individual who had a great sense of humor, and commanding presence. He was quite the jokester. Whenever you played trivia with him you were guaranteed he would win. He had an opinion about everything but was always right. Without a doubt, he loved his kids and grandkids more than life itself. He will be truly be missed.
He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas M. Garrett.
He is survived by his mother, Sheila Garrett of Smyrna; loving wife of 26 years, Sherri D. Garrett of Felton; sons and daughter in laws, Kevin M. Gibbs (Rose) of Dover, Thomas M. Garrett (Meghan) of Harrington, Robert D. Garrett Jr. (Michelle) of Harrington; daughters and son in laws, Angel D. Gibbs (Aaron) of Bronx, N.Y., and Heather C. Chamberland (Scott) of Dover; brother, Stephen Garrett of Hockessin, Del.; sisters, Deborah Kerley of Smyrna and Laurie Lattomus of Wilmington; three grandchildren and one on the way.
Services will be 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Interment will be in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.
