Robert (Bobby/Bob) D. Biggs

On December 25, 2015 Bob/Bobby Biggs went to his heavenly home.  He was born in Viola, DE on May 13, 1935, the son of J. Derrickson and Mildred Biggs.

He will be fondly remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who always put his family first.  In addition to his family his long time friends will also miss him.  He had a sunny disposition, a wonderful sense of humor and his greatest joy was spending time with his family and his dear friends.  Although he was ill for two years preceding his death he never complained.  His glass was always half full.

Bob graduated from Caesar Rodney, served in the Delaware National Guard and was a member of Manship Chapel, where he previously served on the Board of Deacons.  He was also a member of the VCF Ruritan Club and had been District Ruritan of the Year.

He was a dairy and grain farmer for 44 years before retiring in 1997. He was involved in many farm related organizations and instrumental in beginning the Young Farmers Organization of the Delaware Farm Bureau. He enjoyed designing and building his own home and had become an accomplished renovator and architect in unique kitchen designs.  He passed his love of being a father to his grandson Rob. He passed his love of woodworking on to his grandson Jason and he took enormous pride in Jason’s talents and accomplishments.  Lastly, he passed his wit and sunny disposition to his grandson Travis.  With great pride they will remain his living legacy.

Bob is immediately survived by, Doris, his wife of 60 years; his daughters Cathy L. Vogl and Carol A. Kirby; his son in law Ernest Vogl; three grandsons Rob, his wife Mallory, Jason and Travis Vogl.  Gramps is also survived by his buddy, best friend and great grandson, Dax.

A private burial has already occurred and a celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016, at 11 am at Manship Chapel, 4912 Burnite Mill Road (Route 12) Felton, DE 19943. You may visit with the family after the service in the Manship fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his memory to Manship Chapel.
