Richard A Mccloskey, Sr

Richard A. McCloskey, Sr, FELTON, age 82, passed away at the Milford Center on Sunday, December 10, 2023. He was the oldest of five children of the late, Edward McCloskey and Mary Massey.

Richard was a 1959 alumni of Felton High School. He owned racehorses and enjoyed watching them race for several years, but farming was his life. For a few years when he was younger, Richard worked the assembly line on the overnight shift at General Motors during the winter months. He was also the former President of Felton Bank. Richard and his wife enjoyed taking trips with the DE Farm Bureau, traveling out west and even had the opportunity to go to Hawaii with them. Richard’s ultimate favorite pastime was operating his combine at harvest time, and driving around to check out his farmland.

Richard was known to have a tough exterior, but a gentle heart. He was always fair and giving by nature, but liked to tease and make others laugh. He enjoyed playing UNO with the grandkids and often wanted to know about their activities.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Wanda McCloskey; sons, Richard A McCloskey Jr, and his wife, Virginia, and their children, Megan and Morgan; Randy McCloskey, and his wife, Jordan, and their children, Rylin, Rowan, and Rhett.

Services will be held at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy. Harrington, DE 19952, on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at 1:00 PM. A viewing will be held two hours prior beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will immediately follow the service at Barratt’s Chapel Cemetery, Frederica, DE.
