Rachel A Fluharty

Rachel A. Fluharty, of Felton, passed away at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital, on Monday, April 11, 2022, at the age of 88.  She was the daughter of the Laura Belle and Herman T. Hickman Sr.

Ms. Rachel was very family oriented, she loved spending time with them all.  She enjoyed touring Delaware every Christmas with her granddaughter Melissa, great grandkids Ricky and Judea to view all the Christmas lights.  Ms. Rachel enjoyed attending Apple Scrapple, the Strawberry Festival, Peach Festival, and the Tuckahoe Steam & Gas Show each year as well.  She loved traveling, and enjoyed going to Florida with her late husband.  When not traveling or spending time with family, Ms. Rachel enjoyed crocheting and sewing.  Known for her sass, she was a very caring person who will be missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Rachel is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin Fluharty; sons, Kenneth, Roland, and Wayne Dixon; brothers, Earl, Paul and Herman Hickman; grandchildren, Sammy and George; great grandchildren, Damian, Ethan, and Caleb.

Ms. Rachel is survived by her children, Linda Powell, Roger Dixon, Ida Mae Fluharty, LouAnn Hill, Rebecca Shorter, Frances Fluharty, James Fluharty; 20 grandchildren, several great and great great grandchildren; neighbor and dear friend, Miss Helen Grey; and caretakers, Miss Debbie Allen and Miss Cheyenne Foreman.

A Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, April 14, 2022 at Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc. at 12 PM.  A visitation will take place one hour prior starting at 11 AM. Interment will follow immediately after at the Concord Cemetery in Federalsburg, MD.
