Philip Wayne Brown

Philip “Wayne” Brown, 71, of Milford, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from the Country Rest Home of Greenwood. Wayne was the son of the late Philip “Donald” Brown and Betty Brown of Houston, DE.

He spent the majority of his adult life as an employee of Charles West Farms where he spent most of the year assisting with the harvesting of lima beans and peas. He enjoyed his time on the farm and did not view it as a job. Outside of work, Wayne was an avid outdoorsman. He spent most of his free time tending to his garden, working in the woods on his property, and a multitude of other outdoor projects. He was also a longtime Philadelphia Eagles fan and looked forward to watching their games every season, whether they were winning the NFC East or competing for the first pick in the draft. Despite his medical condition in his later years, Wayne always maintained a sense of humor and positive outlook, even in the bleakest of circumstances.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his three brothers, Stevie, Chip, and Glenn Brown.

Wayne is survived by his son, Philip Brown; stepdaughter, Jaclyn Lewis (Mike); stepson, Todd Starke (Amy); siblings: Donna Brown (Hal), Debbie Zimmerman (Richard); ex-wife, Paula Brown; and five grandchildren: Cameron Lewis, Chase Lewis, Cole Starke, Sydney Starke, and Bryce Starke.

A special thank you and recognition to Audrey Winder for taking care of Wayne for most of the last two years of life. Her dedication allowed him to spend his last years in his own home.

Funeral Services will be Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at 12 Noon, with a visitation starting at 11 AM. Interment will follow the service at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
