HARRINGTON - Peggy Mills-Ivins, of Harrington, passed away Saturday, December 24, 2011, in St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington. She was born to the late, Samuel and Dorothy Bryan.
Mrs. Ivins retired from Delaware Technical and Community College after 35 years of service. She was in charge of the bookstore for many years before transferring to the library. After her retirement and upon the opening of Midway Slots, she acquired a job there in the simulcast department, which she thoroughly enjoyed.
She loved to knit and go to the slots in her spare time. She was known for being a giving person who was always thinking of others before herself. As a testament to her giving and loving nature, she would choose to ride in the worst vehicle in order to allow someone else to ride in the newer better one.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Bernard Byran; and sisters, Jane Kyttle and JoAnne Hitchens.
She is survived by her loving husband of nine years, Harvey H. Ivins; sisters, Doris Whaley of Seaford, Phyllis Romer of Seaford, Pat Keebler of Rehoboth, and Linda Eskridge of Seaford; and lots of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 30, 2011, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Denton cemetery. Reception will follow the interment at the Burrsville Ruritan Club.
