Patsy A. Carter, 69
GREENWOOD — Patsy A. Carter of Greenwood passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 69.
Born to the late Wilbur and Pearl Bradley Sr.
Mrs. Carter worked in the Woodbridge school system for 31 years as a teacher’s aide in the elementary school. In the later years she helped teach language skills to the special education students. The school children always loved how she would coordinate her outfits from her shoes to her jewelry. Mrs. Carter enjoyed her Ladies Nights Out with the fellow teachers. Mrs. Carter traveled across the US from Wyoming to Florida and all over the east coast. She enjoyed spending time in Amish country listening to the “clip-clop” of horses’ hooves.
Mrs. Carter also enjoyed going to flea markets and antique stores. She especially loved helping and visiting Martha Morelli and the antique shop which was pure therapy for her. She greatly enjoyed the Delaware State Fair and was often there every day to socialize. She enjoyed watching TV classics such as The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, Matlock and others.
Mrs. Carter’s first love was always her family. She celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary on December 20, 2013. She loved to host homemade ice cream socials and barbecues for the grandkids. The family looked forward to the annual Easter Egg Hunt she would host. Mrs. Carter was a fighter, strong willed, outgoing but a very humble person who always gave her family and others credit above herself because she was so proud of them. She always had a smile on her face. She loved laughing and hearing jokes, and always put others first. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Beene.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, James “Jimmy” Carter Sr.; sons, John “Stacy” Carter, (fiancée Patty) of Greenwood, James “JJ” Carter, Jr. (wife Teri) of Milford; seven grandchildren, Lauren, Grant, Brady, Dalton, Maddie, Caroline and Jameson; Patty’s children, Ashlynne, Brooke and MaKayla; brothers, Wilbur H. Bradley, Jr. of Arcadia, Fla., Dennis Bradley (wife Harlene) of Greenwood; and sister, Betty Pederson of Harrington.
