FELTON — Norris M. Payne passed away on Sept. 14, 2014 at his home. He is the son of the late Grace Kelley.

Mr. Payne was an Airplane and Engine Mechanic for the Army Air Force during World War II. He retired from Sears and started Payne’s Leather Shop in 1973. He was well respected by his customers where he lived by the rule of treating others like you want to be treated.

Mr. Payne was a former member of the VFW Cooties, the Harrington Moose, Past President of the Eldorado (MD) Fire Co., and the Eldorado United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the ABATE motorcycle organization.

Mr. Payne was a wonderful father, who was kind, caring, and nurturing. He would put his family first before anything. He loved Arizona and he and his wife would travel there every winter from 1991-2009. He also enjoyed dancing and would take his wife out every Saturday night to hear a live band and dance. Then in more recent years, they enjoyed staying home and watching the Gaithers and the Huckabee show on television on Saturdays. He was known to love sweets and wanted dessert every night. He especially enjoyed mince meat pies and his wife’s Russian tea cake cookies.

Mr. Payne was a cowboy at heart and loved cowboy poetry, western movies, and western books. An eclectic music lover, his tastes ranged from the blues to ZZ top. He owned and enjoyed horses and motorcycles. He also enjoyed watching drag racing, stock car races, the Redskins, and Notre Dame football.

He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Doris Payne of Felton; sons, Ronald “Ron” Payne (LuEllen) of Elkton, MD, Eric Payne of Felton; daughters, Linda Voshell (Wayne) of Marydel, MD, Carol Fry (Craig) of Harrington; eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.
