GREENWOOD - Mildred "Millie" Smith passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 at her home in Greenwood. She was 93. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Hattie Pearson.
Mrs. Smith was a beautician who owned her own beauty shops over the years in Harrington, Dover, and Largo, Fla. In her spare time, she enjoyed making crafts, as well as knitting and crocheting. She loved spending time with friends and family as she was outgoing and friendly. Once you became her friend, you were always a friend.
One of the favorite traits that she was known for was always looking her best. She was always very well coordinated in her outfits. She will be remembered as a very caring individual and loving mother.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Berean Bible Fellowship, Harrington Senior Center, Greenwood Cheer Center and the Widows Luncheon group. She enjoyed services at Pilgrim Chapel and attended the Womens Bible Study and Prime Time at Calvary Wesleyan Church.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Fred Pearson, Elmer "Boots" Pearson, Nathan Pearson, Franklin Pearson; and sister, Catherine Moore.
She is survived by son, Eugene Wright (Bea) of Laurel; grandchildren, Karen Chaffinch of Greenwood, Cheryl Wood of Marion, Ohio and Anderson Wright of Harrington; five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; sister, Myrtle Karcher of Greenwood; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be private.
