GREENWOOD - Mildred Camidge of Greenwood, passed away on Tuesday, May 31, 2011 at her son Donald’s home. She was 92.
She is the daughter of the late Stanley L. and Lillian D. Champagne. Mrs. Camidge worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for many years. She also had previously
worked 13 years on the police department for Nassau County, and was a New York Police matron. In her spare time, she enjoyed knitting and crocheting, and reading her Bible.
She belonged to the Church of the Brethren in Farmington, the Air Force Sgt. Association Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary Post #2, Dover VFW, and Post #6483 Milford Blue Hen VFW Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Eugene Camidge; daughter, Annette L. Strain; and brothers, John and Walter Champagne.
Survivors include her sons, Elwyn Champagne of Florida, Stanley M. Strain of Downsville, N.Y., Donald E. Strain of Greenwood, William “Bill” S. Strain of Charlotte, N.C.; stepdaughter, Sandra Doig of England; 40 grandchildren; and 44 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011 in Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Cemetery, Millsboro.
