Michael E. Wilkerson

HARRINGTON - Michael E. Wilkerson, of Harrington, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 15, 2011, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. He was 55. He was the son of the late Alvin V. and Martha Jane Wilkerson.
He resided in West Street Manor, Harrington. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football, baseball, and was an avid NASCAR and Eagles fan. He enjoyed collecting model NASCARS.
He will be remembered as a very outgoing person who made friends very easily. He had a strong bond with his daughter Amy, and loved his cat Pickles. He will be greatly missed.
Mr. Wilkerson belonged to the Harrington Senior Center.
He is survived by his daughter, Amy Corkell of Harrington; son, Brian Wilkerson; brother, Alvin Wilkerson Jr. of Delmar; sisters, Joann Wilkerson of Seaford, Joyce Hammond of Seaford, Bonnie Greene of Blades, and Shirley Seamore of Delmar; and a dear close friend who has been by his side during his long illness and who checked on him everyday, Joann Williams.
A viewing will be from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. A graveside service will be 1 p.m., Sunday, March 20, at the New Hope Cemetery, Willards, Md.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the funeral home to help defray expenses, Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South Dupont Hwy., Harrington.
