Matthew "Matty" W. Cerillo

Matthew W. “Matty” Cerillo, 65, of Harrington, DE passed away at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, 11/26/2022. He was born in upstate New York.

Matthew was the owner of Cerillo’s Nursery in Harrington, which was started by his grandfather. He was an active member of St. Bernadette Catholic Church. He also was a lifetime member of the Harrington Moose, the Sons of the American Legion, the American Poolplayers Association (APA), and the Billiard Congress of America (BCA). When he wasn’t doing landscaping or playing pool, he liked to fish, crab, and hunt.

Matthew was a strong, stoic individual who was easy going and kind hearted with a good sense of humor, and would always help someone in need. He dearly loved his family and spending time in the outdoors.

Matthew is preceded in death by his dad, James Cerillo.

He is survived by his mother, Patricia Hunt; his children; Melissa Ray (Kirk), Patricia Brauer (Rich), Christina Cerillo, and Tobias Cerillo; Grandchildren, Dominic, Vinny, Skye, Bailey, Kaylee, Lexi, Tobias, and Travis; siblings, Monica Cerillo, Timothy Cerillo, Valerie Webster, Eleanor Ippolito, and other extended family members.

Visitation will be on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 11AM- 12:30PM at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 15522 S. DuPont Hwy. Harrington DE. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1 PM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, 109 Dixon St, Harrington, DE 19952. Interment will follow the Mass at Milford Community Cemetery, Milford, DE. A Celebration of Life will take place at the Harrington Moose Lodge on Saturday, December 3, 2022 from 12 noon to 3PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations towards the funeral expenses are appreciated.
