Mary Ann Stayton, age 74, of Harrington, passed away on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Genesis Center; she was very peaceful with her family by her side.
Mary Ann graduated from Goldey Beacon College, worked at Playtex for many years and then served as Secretary and Treasurer for the family business (Stayton's Sand & Gravel; owned with her husband for over 20 years, retiring in 1993).
First and foremost she was a wife, mother, and grandmother. She doted on her family, spending the majority of her days making sure her children made it to wherever they needed to be... Dance class, Drum lessons...friend and school events. She had a true love for the Arts; including, watching her son's drum and music performances as well as her daughter's dance recitals.
She will be remembered as a woman with a passion for taking care of and helping others; although a private person, she gladly gave her all to friends and family caring deeply for them. Her compassion, concern, and love will forever be cherished and sadly missed.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas R. Stayton Sr. of Harrington; son, Thomas R. Stayton Jr. of Harrington; and daughter Saundra L. Stayton of Wilmington. She is also survived by three loving grandchildren, Dylan, Gavin and Payton Novak.
A celebration of her life will take place on Wednesday, August 12, 2015, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at 1 PM. A visitation for family and friends will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Camden.
