Mary A. Newnom

Mary A. Newnom, 89, Dover, passed away on September 21, 2024 at Bay Terrace Rehab and Healthcare Center. She was the daughter of the late I. Jake and Anna Passwaters.

Mrs. Newnom retired as a shipping clerk at Dover Air Force Base. She was an active member of Prospect United Methodist Church in Harrington and Modern Maturity in Dover.

Mrs. Newnom loved to travel, enjoyed bowling, and playing dominoes when she was younger.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred and Richard Passwaters; and sister, Gloria Murphy.

Mrs. Newnom is survived by her son, Lou Newnom, Jr (Theresa) and daughter, Karen Ray (Jim); grandchildren, Nicole, Jennifer, and Louis Newnom, III; and sister, and Janet Smith.

A funeral service will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, Inc, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington DE at 11 AM.  A visitation will take place one hour prior, starting at 10 AM. Interment will be private.
