Mary Ellen Jester

Mary Ellen Jester, Chestertown, MD, passed away peacefully after a brief illness, on Friday, July 18, 2025 at her home, she was 98 years young.  She was the daughter of the late, Edgar O. and Gladys M. Hill.

Mrs. Jester was a graduate of the Harrington High School class of 1947.  She was a homemaker and married to her late husband, Robert T., for over 51 years, whom passed away in 2004.  Mrs. Jester was an avid reader, enjoyed playing bridge several times a week at her home, at friends' homes, and at the country club over the years, bowling, and playing golf with her Ladies 18 Hole group. She enjoyed her Fig Newtons, chocolate candy, potato chips, McDonald's French Fries, and Lance crackers.  She especially enjoyed the ride over to Fisherman's Inn, where she could eat her favorite meal of crab cakes, stewed tomatoes and cole slaw.

Mrs. Jester is a prime example of a life well lived. Her love, decency, and kindness, will forever be appreciated, remembered, and missed.  God broke the mold when they made her and she truly made the world a better place.

Mrs. Jester was a former member of the Chester River Yacht and Country Club, the American Legion Auxiliary, and the Order of the Eastern Star.  The family would like to thank the caregivers at the Compass Regional Hospice and Living at Home Health Services while living at home for the compassionate care they provided.

Besides her husband Robert, Mrs. Jester is preceded in death by her sisters, Ann Fields, Jane Rogers, and Gladys Mae Dill.

She is survived by her son, Darrell T. Jester of Chestertown, and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
