Mariann E. Morton

Mariann E. Morton, Milford, passed away suddenly at home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, she was 66 years old. Mariann was born in Salisbury, MD to the late, Evelyn T. and Clarence E. Gravenor. Mariann was a Child Nutrition Manager for the Milford School District for 32 years.  She had also worked for the last 20 years at the Delaware State Fair during the summers. She previously worked in the accounting and payroll department for the Wharton & Baynard Auto Supplies.  Mariann was always a hard worker and enjoyed what she did. In her spare time, she enjoyed preparing food for events at Owens Station Sporting Clays in Greenwood.  She also enjoyed shopping, going to yard sales, crafting and camping in Lancaster, PA.  Mariann was known for her outgoing personality and her love for helping others.  She was a devoted wife, mother and friend.  She will be missed by all that knew her. Mariann joined the Auxiliary of the Carlisle Fire Company in Milford, DE in 2017 and in 2019 received an award for member of the year.  She was also the Treasurer for the MSNA. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Bruce Gravenor and father in law, Howard F. Morton. She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Charles D. Morton Sr.; son, Charles Morton Jr. (Amy); daughter, Christina Morton-Elliott (Tim); mother-in-law, Phyllis Morton, and brothers, Julius and Charles Steiner. A Funeral Service for Mariann will be on Tuesday, March 9, 2021, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy, Harrington, at 11AM.  A walk through visitation for family and friends will take place Monday evening from 5 to 7 PM at the funeral home.  Interment will take place at Hollywood Cemetery immediately after the funeral service. We are adhering to the CDC and Delaware guidelines of occupancy limits, social distancing, and masks.
