M. Susan Moffett

d. January 2, 2015

M. Susan Moffett, of Harrington, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2015, from the Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital, she was 81, born in Felton, DE to the late George and Mary Wyatt.

Mrs. Moffett began her married life as the wife of a farmer and a stay at home mom, in the Clayton area, and moved to the Felton area in 1967.  In the 60’s, she began working for the State of Delaware at the Delaware Home for the Chronically Ill.  She then went to work at Fletcher Nursing Home as a nursing aid, caring for the elderly, something she was very compassionate about.  She worked at Fletchers for over 20 years, before she became a Bayhealth Kent General employee, working in central supply, where she eventually retired.

In her spare time, she enjoyed going to antique farm machinery shows with her husband, and horse racing.  Although she never bet money, she could always pick out the winner of the race.  She did enjoy betting M&M’s with one of her great granddaughters.  Whenever you visited her home, her candy dish was always full.

Mrs. Moffett’s life could be summarized with one word, and that is family.  She loved her family immensely.  She always hosted Sunday dinners and always shared Christmas Eve with the entire family.  She was a great cook, and no one left her home hungry.   Her family could always go to her to tell her anything, express their feelings, and she always kept a secret.  She was their confidant and biggest supporter.  She might not always agree with their choices, but her wisdom and life lessons were always passed down to her children. As her children grew up and married, she accepted their spouses as one of her own children.  Her loving presence will always be felt by her family, and she will be sadly missed.

She is preceded in death by her  husband, William Moffett Sr.; brothers, Emil Wyatt, Irvin Wyatt; sisters, Hazel Wyatt, Elinor Killen, Norma Jean Wyatt; granddaughter, Lori Lynn Jester; sisters in law, Beverly Moffett, Florence Nalbone, Marie Wyatt; brother in law, Medford Killen.

She is survived by her son, William (Debbie) Moffett Jr. of Harrington; daughters, Sandra Correll of Camden, Louise (Mike) Graham of Marydel, MD, Linda Vanderwende of Wyoming, Susan (Joe) Draper of Harrington; brother in laws, Edward (Doris) Moffett of Frederica, Robert Moffett of Kenton, Walter (Agnes) Moffett of Hartly, Harold (Laura) Moffett of Harrington; 12 grandchildren;    20 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Services will take place on Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at 11 AM at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington.  Visitation will take place Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 PM.  Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Dover.
