Lucille D. Doherty- 82- Harrington, DE
Lucille Doherty of Harrington died peacefully Friday September 28th, 2012, after a long battle with cancer while surrounded by her loving family.
Lucille was a loving, spiritual person. She was born in 1930 in Berlin, NH, and later moved to Delaware with her husband. She enjoyed spending time with her family, sewing, and being a foster grandparent for the last seven years. Lucille was employed as a seamstress for many years with various clothing manufacturers. She was later employed by Rand-Whitney Packaging as a box packer until retirement. After retirement she worked at the Harrington Arby’s, and was active in the foster grandparent program until her illness prevented.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Doherty in 1979, and a son, Clyde Doherty, in 2005.
She is survived by three sons, Barry Doherty of Felton, Douglas Doherty of Felton, and Todd Doherty of Greenwood, a daughter, Melodie Gerardi and her husband Gene, a brother Donald Charest, and a sister Claire Perrault, as well as three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 6th; at Melvin Funeral Home, Harrington at 11 a.m., Burial will be at Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Delaware Hospice.
Refreshments will be available immediately following services at Trinity United Methodist Church in Harrington.
