Lois Richards

Lois M. Richards, 85, Seaford, passed away on April 29, 2025 at the Lofland Park Nursing Home. She was the daughter of the late Orville and Edna Martin.

Lois lived and breathed horses. She enjoyed watching Standardbred racing, and she was a seamstress for several of the harness jockeys often mending or making their uniforms. Lois loved animals in general and would go to the end of the world to help one in need. When not around the horses, she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Some would describe Lois as always cheerful, willing to lend a hand, and helpful to a fault.

The family of Lois would like to thank the staff of Lofland Park Center for the exceptional care they gave her.

In addition to her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her son, SSgt E. Michael Demarest and daughter in law, Dorcas Demarest.

Lois is survived by her children, Thomas Demarest (Irene), Daniel Demarest, Grace McMonagle (Brian), Vernon “Butch” Edmonds (Kelly); brother, James Martin; sisters, Sandy Adams and Beth Martin; 7 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

A celebration of life service will be held at the family’s discretion.
