Lewis C Callaway

d. June 10, 2023

Lewis C. Callaway, 79, of Felton passed away Saturday, June 10, 2023 with his wife by his side. He was the son of the late, Joseph and Ethel Callaway.

Lewis was a hard-working carpenter by trade.  He was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge #534, and the American Legion CKRT, Post 7.  Lewis would do whatever needed to be done. He had a hard time telling others no, and spent several volunteer hours building projects at the American Legion and for family members and friends.

Lewis enjoyed life, fishing, traveling, and often said “I’m happy to be here”.  He was a happy go lucky man with a gruff exterior and a heart of gold.  Lewis enjoyed cooking, everyone loved his chicken and dumplings, and he shared meals nightly with his neighbor, Rosalie.  He was a jokester with a quick wit, and always laughing.  Lewis enjoyed being outside grilling, swimming, or spending time with friends.  He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and treated his wife like a queen.  Lewis will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Lewis is preceded in death by his daughter, Samantha Callaway; brothers, Joseph, William, Thomas Callaway; sisters, Betty Jo Callaway, Mary Ann Binger, and Helena Freck.

Lewis is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Kathy Callaway; son, W. “Travis” Callaway; grandchildren, Steven Porter, Eric Porter, Jace Porter, Drew Porter, Kalie Porter, Kyle Callaway; Nathan Callaway; great grandchildren, Landon Porter, Hanna Porter, and Sam Porter.

A formal service is not planned at this time.

Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington.
