Leona Marie “Mom” Cain of Houston, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2011, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford. She was 82. She was born to the late Frank James Donze and Mabel Donze-Lonski .
Mom Cain worked at the family business, Cedar Lane Resale of Houston where she was still working at the ripe old age of 82. She was known as “Mom” to everyone in Houston. She enjoyed barbeques and always had one on her birthday. Christmas was also a favorite time of year for her as well.
In her spare time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles with her great grand daughter Cheyenne Marie, watching I Love Lucy and Shirley Temple Movies on tape, and watching game shows. She was very outgoing, and people would come into her office to drink coffee and talk to Mom Cain, and she enjoyed this tremendously.
Mom Cain cherished her family dearly. She enjoyed being with her great grandchild, Heather and reading to her. She also looked forward to Saturday nights with Mary Marie who enjoyed coming over to have a game night with her mom-mom and pop-pop. She will be sadly missed.
In addition to her parents listed above, she is preceeded in death by her husband, Leroy Cain Jr.; father, Frank James Donze; stepfather, Benjamin A. Lonski Sr. ; brothers, Robert J. Donze Sr., Howard J. Donze; sisters, Louise Smith, Mable Kemp.
She is survived by her sons and daughter in laws, Leroy Donald and Adela Cain of Bethany Beach, Thomas Edward and Ellen Cain of Houston; brother and sister in laws, Francis J. Donze of Magnolia, Donald and Lucy Donze of Cherry Hill, NJ, Benjamin A. and Nyleen Lonski of Magnolia; grandchildren, Mary Marie Cain (referred to as “Her Princess” by Mom Cain), of Houston and Sunny Cain of Roxana; great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Heather, Alex, Ace; and a special friend, Susie Silbereisen.
Funeral service will be Friday, April 1, 2011, at 1PM, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be held prior on Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
