Laurie Layton, Harrington, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at the Delaware Hospice Center, she was 66. She was the daughter of the late Frederick Kiemer and Barbara Failing.

Laurie was a production worker with Sussex Company for many years. After retirement, Laurie became a homemaker who enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren whom she thought the world of. She enjoyed growing pole beans with her husband, Keith, until his passing. When she was working, she used to bowl with "The Throw-Aways", a league of work friends.  Laurie's quiet, laid back demeanor will be missed by her family and close friends.

In addition to her parents, Laurie is preceded in death by her husband, Keith Layton; her brother, Wylie Kiemer, and niece, Wendy Lankford Masten.

Laurie is survived by her daughter, Lisa Layton; grandchildren, Autumn and Justice Dalious Jr.; sister, Sandy Lankford (Tom Phillips); and extended Layton family.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, February, 28 2025 at the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington at 12 Noon. A visitation will take place one hour prior, starting at 11 AM.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the funeral home, to help defray the service costs.

Arrangements are by the Thomas E. Melvin & Son Funeral Home Inc, Harrington.
