Kenneth Baker

Kenneth Richard Baker, Bridgeville, passed away on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at his home, he was 80.  Mr. Baker was born in Farmington, DE to the late, Leroy and Margaret Ruth Baker.

Mr. Baker worked for many years with the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) which later became Conrail, Norfolk Southern and CSX Transportation.  After retirement, he became a buyer and seller of antiques.  He loved going antiquing and thrifting to find his treasures.

Mr. Baker was well known for helping others in need.  He would drop everything to help family or even a stranger in need, and without judgment.  He oftentimes made time or changed his plans to be at his children's and grandchildren's events or games, even on a moments notice.  He loved to spoil his grandchildren and great grandchildren, who affectionately called him GG, and loved taking them to coffee shops for treats, Dolce was his favorite spot to frequent.  He loved going out to eat, especially to little diners or Fat Daddy's BBQ.  It was very important to him to support local businesses.  He enjoyed social gatherings, gospel nights or dinners at church.  His family considered him the expert at picking out his yearly Christmas tree and can recall countless stories associated with his unique trees.  His presence and love will be forever missed by his family.

Mr. Baker was also active in his local church, Chaplain's Chapel, and assisted with the charge food pantry for years.  He also enjoyed vacationing and managing at the Pennsylvania Railroad Beach House.  He was involved with the Greenwood Alumni as he was part of the class of 1962.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his siblings, Bobby Baker, Raymond Baker, Freddie Baker, Paul L. Baker.

He is survived by his children; Richard Baker (Susan), Jim Baker (Sydney), Tina Hill (Marvin), Lori Webb (Joe), grandchildren, Jennifer Baker, Angela Clark (Gabe), Holly Baker, Jimmy Baker (Heather), Bethany Faizi (Haris), Belicia Baker (James Costilla), Keith Hill (Caitlin), Wendy Kenton (Bryce), Skylar Webb, Briar Webb; sisters, Jean Coffman, Eva Dixon (Wayne); sisters in law, Caroline Baker and Barbara Baker; special friend, Thelma Butler; 12 great grandchildren with one on the way; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Services for Mr. Baker, will be on Saturday, February 10, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE, at 11 AM.  A public visitation will be held Friday evening, February 9, from 5 to 7 PM.  Interment will be at the Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
