James L. Parks, 56

James L. Parks, passed away Friday, Dec. 12, 2014 at Delaware Hospice Center in Milford. He was the son of the late Lawrence and Helen Parks.

Mr. Parks worked for Verizon for over 20 years as a network engineer. His favorite hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening, cooking, and grilling. He enjoyed his genealogy and did extensive research into his family lineage. Every few years, he would venture to Arkansas to participate in extended family reunions where he would do more research and meet other family members.

Mr. Parks also loved his animals, especially his dogs and horses. He belonged to the Mid Atlantic Haflinger Association, and enjoyed participating in their local horse drives. He loved carpentry and built his own horse barns, fences, and the deck on his home. He was the first one in the family to own a computer, and he enjoyed using it, and teaching others to use it.

Being born in Texas, he was a diehard Texan. Everything in life was compared to how it is in Texas. He was known as a great kidder. You never knew what was going to come out of his mouth. He loved and cherished his family immensely, and he will be greatly missed.

Mr. Parks also belonged to the Harrington Moose Lodge #534.

He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Sharon F. Motter Parks of Greenwood; daughters, Lyndi Skidmore of Fresno, Texas, Jamie Wingo of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Bailey, Blayre, Marli, and Lani Jo.

Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment will
