James "Jim" I Thomas

James I. Thomas, 77 of Felton, passed away at Bayhealth-Kent Campus on Wednesday, July 3, 2024. He was the son of the late Margaret and Isaac Thomas.

Jim was a 1965 graduate of Felton High School. Following high school, he then went on to have a 36-year career at Kraft Foods. In his free time, Jim liked to hunt with his hunting buddies from “Harvey’s Hunting Club”.  He also enjoyed traveling, spending time at his cabin in Maine, fishing, camping, tending to his large vegetable garden, and being outside.

Jim loved people and his easy-going nature found him to never know a stranger, and making friends with anyone he met. He also loved animals, especially his “fur kids”. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his wife of 51-years, Donna Thomas; God daughters, Lisa Simmons, Joyce (Kurt) Johnson; brother in laws, Richard (Gail) Shehorn, Barry Shehorn, Dale Shehorn; sister in laws Cheryl Tripp, Sharon Kemp; best friend, Jay Luffman; fur children, Shawnee, Snowball, Midnight, Lilly, Jewels, and many other friends and extended family.

Services will take place at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 11, 2024 at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy., Harrington, DE 19952. A viewing will be held one-hour prior beginning at 12:00 PM (Noon).  In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to the Felton Community Fire Co., PO Box 946, Felton, DE 19943.
