James J. “Jim” Crampton, 61 of Magnolia passed away at Bayhealth Sussex Campus on Monday, May 27, 2024. Jim is the son of Edward and the late Carolyn Crampton.
Jim was a graduate of Elgin High School in Ohio. Following high school he enlisted in the US Air Force obtaining the rank of MSgt. before retiring in 2011. His duty stations included: Malmstrom AFB Montana, King Salmon AFB Alaska, Kunsan AB Republic of Korea, and two tours at Dover AFB Delaware where he was stationed until retirement. He served in The Force Support Squadron, most notably in Dover as Lodging Superintendent, Port Mortuary Superintendent, and Food Services Superintendent. He deployed three times in support of Operations IRAQI FREEDOM and ENDURING FREEDOM. Following his retirement from the Air Force Jim worked for Ricoh as the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator at Delaware State University.
In his free time, Jim was the biggest Clevelend Browns football fan. He collected comics and superhero memorabilia, with his favorites being Marvel superheroes, The Hulk and The Thing. He also enjoyed music, movies, camping, cooking, and going out in nature with his wife, while she took photos. Jim was a funny, kind, and a happy-go-lucky individual; and was a very loving, supportive father and husband. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife of 21 years, April Crampton; daughter Mollee Dworkin (Mark); sons, Anthony and Alexander Crampton; father, Edward Crampton; brother, Randy Crampton (Julie); sister, Cathy Crampton (Charlie); and other extended family.
A Celebration of Life will held privately at a later date.
