Jack Lloyd Woods of Camden-Wyoming, passed away on March 31, 2011, at home surrounded by the family he loved, he was 73. He was born to the l Walter and Mildred Woods.
Mr. Woods served his country proudly in the United States Air Force for 6 years. In the Air Force, he learned mechanics and how to work on equipment.
Mr. Woods drove a truck for many years before working as a custodian for the CR School District, where he quickly advanced to Chief Custodian. He enjoyed going to auctions and fishing. He was very good with his hands, and could take anything, especially clocks, fix them up and have them looking like brand new.
Mr. Woods was well known for his culinary skills. Along with his daughter Brenda, they could cook up a storm. He will be fondly remembered as fun loving, easy going, and a jokester. He was very family oriented and good hearted. He loved doing things for other people. During the holidays, he would buy extra turkeys and give them out to families in need. All year long at auctions, he would buy toys and stuffed animals that he would save to pass out with a friend to children at Christmas time.
He was preceded in death by a brother and sister – Eugene “Gene” Woods and Josephine “Jo” Jones.
He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Freida Woods; sons Bruce C, Woods of Camden, James L. Woods of Dover, Michael D. Woods of Camden; daughters Kathy E. Woods of Camden, Brenda A. Buchanan of Sandtown; brothers and sisters: Jay & Maria Woods (Washington, New Jersey), Butch & Reta Woods (Pittsburg, Kansas), Steven & Kim Woods (Pittsburg, Kansas), Wanda Hensley (Pittsburg, Kansas), Margaret Woods (Pittsburg, Kansas), Arnola Phillips (Louisburg, Kansas), Brenda & Ron Monohon (Arma, Kansas), Maybelle Nelson (Bedford, Texas), Becky & Wylie Rantz (Bradley, Michigan); grandchild, David J. Buchanan.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 6, 2011, at 1:00 PM, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 PM. Interment is at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Sandtown.
