Irene O. Dean, 90
HARRINGTON — Irene O. Dean daughter of the late Norman and Edna Outten, passed away Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015.
In her early years, prior to having children, Mrs. Dean worked for several years at the DuPont Co. Her hobbies included watching game shows and crossword puzzles.
Mrs. Dean will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother to her late husband, and their children, as well as a doting grandmother. She was known for always being pleasant and keeping an immaculate house, and loved having family and friends around her. Her family fondly recalls spending summers at the family’s beach house in Rehoboth Beach, Del. Upon retirement, Mr. and Mrs. Dean traveled to every state in their motor home, except for Alaska and Hawaii. They truly loved to travel and camp, and looked forward to spending winters in Florida.
Mrs. Dean was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for more than 50 years. She also was a lifetime member of the Harrington Fire Co. Auxiliary, and a member of the Harrington Senior Center. Mr. and Mrs. Dean were also members of the Delaware Travelers Good Sam Camping Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale V. Dean; her brothers, William H. Outten, Tilghman Outten, Clifford Outten, and a sister, Miriam Outten.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Faye Chandler; a son, Dale B. (Kimberly) Dean; grandchildren, Brooke Dean, Bailey Dean, and Sam G.(Julia) Forester; and great-grandchildren, Annabelle Irene Forester, and Ava Rose Forester.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Nov. 19, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington, at 12 p.m. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Hollywood Cemetery, Harrington.
