HARRINGTON — Irene G. Dayton, passed away on Saturday, August 18, 2012, in Bayhealth-Kent General Hospital. Her parents are the late William S. and Anna L. George.
Mrs. Dayton was a homemaker. During her younger years, alongside her husband, they owned and operated several small businesses, including a drug and sundry store, mini-market, and grocery store. Her favorite activities included crocheting, puzzle books, and reading magazines. She was also a great cook, and spent a great deal of time in the kitchen.
Mrs. Dayton was a lifetime member of the American Legion and the Moose Auxiliary.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Harold H. Dayton; and several siblings.
She is survived by her daughter, Delores Shahan of Harrington; granddaughters and spouses, Melody (Laurence) Pagan of Harrington, and Amber (David) Vaughn of Harrington; sisters, Clara Tolson of Chestertown, Md., Rose Perry of Federalsburg, Md., and Barbara Watson of Goldsboro, Md.; brother, Otis George of Virginia; and seven great-grandchildren.
Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 23, 2012, at the Eastern Shore Veterans Cemetery, Hurlock.
