Hilda S. Stewart of Harrington, daughter of the late Bruce and Geneva Beene, passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, surrounded by her family and friends. She was 76.
Mrs. Stewart worked for General Foods for approximately 20 years. Prior to her illness, she loved attending Heritage Bible Baptist Church in Greenwood.
In her spare time, she enjoyed camping in Ft. Myers, Florida, from January through April each year with their friends. She also enjoyed painting the many handmade wood crafts that her late husband built over the years. She loved shopping, gardening, but most importantly, spending time with family.
Mrs. Stewart will be remembered as a devoted wife and mother to her late husband and their two sons, as well as a doting grandmother to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John A. Stewart; and siblings, Easther Knight, Dorothy Beene Coombs, Douglas Beene, and Dennis Beene.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce (Debbie) Stewart, Terry (Debbie) Stewart; grandchildren, Kim (Heyward) White, Terry (TJ) Stewart, Steven ( Carrie) Stewart, Ashley (Brittney) Stewart, and five great grandchildren, along with siblings; Betty Cagle, Bobby Beene, Bruce Beene, Jim Beene, Carlos Beene, long time friend, Edna Butler; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Delaware Hospice Center and Maxim Home Health Care for all of the help and services they provided.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 27, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 S. DuPont Hwy, Harrington, at 1 PM. Visitation will take place Monday evening from 6 to 8 PM. Interment will be at Hollywood Cemetery in Harrington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
