Helen Black  Hubbard, Age 73, of Hurlock, MD, died April 28, 2012, at Peninsula Regional Hospital in Salisbury.

Helen was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mildred McIntire. She worked for General Foods for over 32 years. She started in the maintenance department and ended as a clerk in the company store. Mrs. Black-Hubbard enjoyed many things in life including sewing, fishing, gardening, cooking, swimming, yard work, boating, and travelling the world. She loved her family and enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was looking forward to the birth of her first great great grandchild, Wyatt, who is due in June. She was known as a very easy going person, very friendly, and quite the animal lover. She cherished her dogs "Muffin" and "Max". She is now joined with her loving companion of 17 years Applejack, her terrier.

Mrs. Black-Hubbard was a member of the Harrington Moose Lodge #534, American Legion, Milford and Harrington Senior Centers, Modern Maturity Center and volunteered for the Red Cross. She was a member of the Milford Church of God as well as the Park Lane Church of God in Federalsburg.

She was preceded in death by: parents, Herbert and Mildred McIntire; daughter, Helen Ellers; brothers, Harry "Sonny" McIntire, and John Gray Sr.; sisters, Elizabeth Bailey, and Edith Littleton; former husband of 19 years Ralph "Blackie" Black. Survivors include her husband, Harry "Butch" Hubbard of Hurlock; sons, George Ellers, Jr. of Bridgeville and Samuel Ellers Sr. of Harrington; sisters, Virginia Wengard of Lincoln and Nellie Ann Porter of Milford; 3 grandchildren, Virginia Eastman, Tracy Ellers, Samuel Roy Ellers, Jr.; 6 great-grandchildren, Sammy Ellers, III, Todd Ellers, Ashley Eastman, James Eastman, Rebecka Ellers, Joseph Johnson.

Service, Thursday, May 3, 2012, 1:00 pm, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Visitation: Wednesday, May 2, 2012 from 6-8pm Interment in Hollywood Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to your choice of a local food bank or to the Park Lane Church of God food ministries, 209 Park Lane, Federalsburg, MD 21632.
