Harvey H. Ivins, II of Harrington, passed away on Sunday, May 20, 2012, at the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford, he was 72.  Mr. Ivins was born in Harrington, DE to the late Webster C. and Elizabeth Marie Ivins.

Mr. Ivins worked for over 38 years at Callis-Thompson Inc. of Harrington.  He fixed meters and welded tanks among various other job duties.  He also worked nights for over 30 years at the Mutual Windows at both the Dover and Harrington Raceways selling tickets.

His favorite activities included horse racing, rabbit hunting, and gardening, especially growing lima beans.  He enjoyed going to the monthly luncheons with his classmates of Harrington High School Class of 1958.  Mr. Ivins also belonged to the Harrington Moose Lodge #534.

He will be remembered as a quiet and reserved person.  If he liked you, he liked you, if not, he did not have much to do with you.  He will be sadly missed by his friends and close family.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria Lynn Ivins; a sister, Ida Elizabeth Beauchamp;  sister in law, Bonnie Ivins; and his wife, Peggy Mills-Ivins, who passed away in December 2011.

He is survived by a brother, William W. Ivins of Harrington; sisters and brother in laws, Doris M. and Robert Mahaffey of Dover, Brenda J. and George Collins of Harrington; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services will be Thursday, May 24, 2012, at 1 PM, at the Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington, with a visitation two hours prior to the service.  Interment will take place at the Denton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Delaware Hospice Center, 100 Patriots Way, Milford, DE 19963.
